The Company

The company, Billcost, has been in operation in the Southern African construction industry for the past 21 years.

From the humble DOS based system we started out with in 1985, to the first Windows based system in 1995, to today’s powerfull systems, Billcost was always at the forefront of the construction estimating software.

Billcost was acquired by the current owner in late 2001 as a somewhat ailing concern, but has flourished under the new approach of dedicated customer service. After five years, our customer base continues to grow strongly.

Billcost’s philosophy of aligning itself with strategic partners in the industry has led to the acquisition of the Merkel’s Builders Pricing and Management Manual in 2005. PPIS, another addition to the stable and the most exiting thing to hit the construction industry since cement is set to launch soon.

What does Billcost do?

Billcost is a complete electronic estimating, scheduling and management system for the construction industry. It remains to this day the only construction estimating software to incorporate a full database of Material and Labour rates, all combined into powerfull formulae to make estimating a breeze.

With the full set of management tools, Billcost takes the user from the initial estimating stage to project management with functions such as Cost Control, Material Orders, Profit Calculations, the issuing of Certificates, Project Scheduling, etc. It is possible to work from Plans or Bills of Quantities.

The database – relating to all building methods and materials, is regularly updated with the latest material prices and the formulae allows you make full use of the system from the word go. The principle is simple, insert the dimensions of the activity you would like to measure i.e. building a wall, and Billcost will calculate the type and number of materials and labour needed to complete the job, all with a general price for your province. 16 Different reports are available per job.

Billcost’s dedicated team of professionals do not only sell software. Training courses, hotline support and electronic updates are all part of the back-up service provided. With a comprehensive User Manual, every user has the opportunity to be fully conversant with the product, thereby gaining maximum benefit from the package.
